Search Once, Park Smart: Parking Near Any Copenhagen Address

Every drive into the city ends the same way. The route was fine, the traffic was fine. And then, a few hundred meters from where you actually need to be, the real journey begins: circling the block, squinting at signs, weighing a suspicious-looking gap against a garage you can't quite see from here, while your passenger reads out the arrival time you're no longer going to make.

The problem was never the driving. It was arriving without a plan. So we built the plan into the app: with the new destination search, you look up where you're going first, and Legal Parking shows you everything parkable around it. The circling ends before it starts.

Search before you drive

At the top of the map you'll find a new search pill: "Search address or postcode." Start typing and the autocomplete kicks in. It's tuned to Denmark, so you're not scrolling past results from three other countries, and it works in your language. Pick a result and the map pans and zooms straight to your destination, with the center pin landing right on it.

That's the entire ritual. A restaurant address, a friend's street, a postcode you half-remember from the invitation: one search, and you're looking at the parking situation around it from your sofa.

The nearest garages, one tap to navigate

The moment the map lands on your destination, a Nearby parking sheet slides up with up to five of the nearest parking garages and lots, ranked by how close they are. For each one you get the name, the address, the distance in meters, and a star rating where one exists, so you can tell the well-liked garage from the one people only use out of desperation.

Found your pick? Tap Navigate and the app hands you straight off to Apple Maps or Google Maps with the garage as your destination. One honest footnote: the distance shown is straight-line, as the crow flies. The crow doesn't have to respect one-way streets, but it gives you an instant, fair comparison between options.

The list is garages. The map is the whole picture.

At the bottom of that sheet sits a small line doing a lot of work: "More parking options are shown on the map." Take the hint. The list covers off-street garages and lots, but all the on-street parking, both paid zones and free streets, is drawn directly on the map around your destination, color-coded so you can read it at a glance.

That includes Copenhagen's red, green, blue, and yellow paid zones, free public roads with no restrictions (there's a dedicated filter: "Free Zone – No time limit or payment"), 3-hour free zones, and specialty spots like EV charging, disabled parking, and commercial spaces.

Free streets show up right next to paid garages, and sometimes the smartest parking decision is choosing to pay nothing at all.

This is the part we're proudest of, because it's where destination search meets what Legal Parking is actually about. Most parking apps only light up when there's something to charge you for. We treat free parking as a first-class citizen: if there's a genuinely free street two minutes' walk from that 45 kr/hour red zone, you'll see it, and registering your free parking in the app costs exactly 0 kr: no minimum fee, no service fee.

Know the price before you park

Colors tell you where you can park; the live pricing legend tells you what it costs. It lists each zone's day, evening, and night rates, and it highlights the rate that applies right now, so you're never doing sign math at 22:55 wondering which price you're about to pay. Aim the center pin at any zone and a panel shows you the zone's name and rate. Aim it at nothing and the app says so plainly: "No zones found. Move the map around, or search for an address or postcode."

Those are the 2026 municipal hourly rates. When you register paid parking through the app, a 15% service fee (minimum 4 kr) is added on top, and the full price is always shown before you confirm, never after.

Plan the arrival, remember the departure

Destination search bookends nicely with the other feature we shipped alongside it: Find My Car. One tells you where to park before you get there; the other remembers where you parked so the walk back isn't an archaeology project. Together they cover the two moments where parking actually goes wrong: the arrival and the return.

Because that's the point of all of it. Parking isn't just the payment in the middle; it's the whole gap between two drives. Search the address tonight, glance at the map, pick your spot (garage, paid street, or the free street around the corner) and drive in already knowing where you'll stop.
